Abstract

This paper presents design and development of an accounting based long-term electricity energy planning software. The developed software is intended to be utilized as a learning and research tool. The software's ability includes accounting based calculation and graphical visualization of inputted values of electricity consumption and power generation capacities for baseline year. Electricity consumption growth rate projection for each supply-demand scenario is also provided to allow user work with up to five different supply-demand scenarios. Selection of fossil fuel as well as renewable energy based power plants along with several parameters settings, transmission and distribution losses calculation, resources analysis, and environmental impact calculation in terms of CO 2 emission are also in the feature. The software has been well tested and results are compared to that achieved by similar other licensed software.
