Abstract

The escalation in competition in the property industry is driving multi-purpose building developers to seek innovative ways to promote their facilities. Yarra Ballroom is one of the multi-purpose building facilities located in a row of shops in the West Surabaya. The challenge of Yarra Ballroom is that it is difficult for prospective users to know the exact location of the Yarra Ballroom building. In addition, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has also made promotional activities that were previously carried out less effective. Therefore, in the post-pandemic period, the owner of the Yarra Ballroom aims to adopt an Augmented Reality (AR-based promotional media to help people know more about the Yarra Ballroom multi-purpose building. This research focuses on designing and developing an interactive AR platform to promote the Yarra multipurpose building). This research collects data through interviews and questionnaires involving several representative user groups. This study concludes that the interactive features provided through the AR platform allow potential users to explore the building, see interior visualizations, and get detailed information about the facilities provided. Users report a more engaging and immersive AR platform than conventional promotion methods. In addition, this research can contribute to developing an interactive AR platform to promote multipurpose buildings. Based on observations when implementing interactive AR platforms, interactive AR-based promotional media can increase user interest in getting to know more about and using Yarra Ballroom’s facilities as a multi-purpose building.
